There are currently 20 women political prisoners: 19 in Hasharon Prison and one in Neve Tirza Prison
.
Covert arrests
The Israeli Authorities have conducted a series of covert arrests including the arrest of three new woman political detainees.
A covert arrest is one subject to a blanket ban on publications of details of the arrest and even the detainee's lawyer, who may be barred from meeting with his/her client, is prohibited from notifying the detainees family.
Covert detentions and barring detainees' access to their lawyers are yet another violation of basic human rights and enable the authorities to carry out arbitrary arrests.

Physical conditions
Women political prisoners suffer from overcrowding in their cells and lack of space for movement. They have asked the prison authorities to provide them more cells.
