Hasharon Prison (Tel Mond)

The travel from the prison to court

Lina Jarbuni, from Arabeh Bathouf, in the Galilee, was arrested on 15 April 2002. On 3 September 2013 she was brought to the district court in Lod, during the travel she suffered very harsh conditions. Although the distance from Hasharon Prison to the court was about 35 km, the travel duration was about 22 hours. She was taken from the prison at 3 o'clock at night and brought back to the prison at 1 o'clock in the next night. She was held for hours in the prisoner transport vehicle. During those hours, her hands and her legs were shackled. The next day she woke up with swollen hands from the shackling and legs painful because the place in the prisoners' vehicle was very small and she had to sit for hours with folded legs. In the court: the appeal against the parole board's decision not to release her was rejected.

Nawal elSa'adi , 50 years old, from Jenin Refugee Camp, a former prisoner, was arrested again on 4 November 2012. On 1 September 2013, she was brought to the court, all the day she suffered from harsh and humiliating conditions: she was held in the prisoner transport vehicle from 7:30 until 17:30, her hands and legs were shackled during the whole time in the vehicle. The guards took her out of the vehicle just to transfer her to another prisoners' vehicle. Most of the time the vehicle was parked and the air conditioner did not work in the hot summer (more then 30 c degree). At the end, the trial was postponed and she did not even enter the court.
