There are at present about 10 women political prisoners in the Israeli jails: nine in Hasharon prison and one in detention center.

Shalit exchange for Palestinian political prisoners

At the first step, on 18 October 2011, 477 Palestinian political prisoners were released among them 27 women.
Nine women were not released and all of them are held now in Hasharon prison:
Lina Jarbuni , from Arabeh Bathouf, in the Galilee, was arrested on 15 April 2002
Worud Kasem , from Tira in the Triangle, was arrested on 4 October 2006
Khadija Habash , from Rahat in the Naqab was arrested on 22 January 2009
Suad Nazal , from Qalqilya, was arrested on 23 August 2009
Mona Qaadan , from Arabeh, Jenin district, was arrested on 31 May 2011
Bushra elTawil , from elBireh, was arrested on 6 July 2011
Ranya Halsa , from Bet Hanina, was arrested on 8 September 2011
Hanya Naser , fron Dir Qadis, Ramalla district, was arrested on 12 September 2011
Fidaa Abu Snina , from Hebron, was arrested on 17 September 2011

Hasharon prison (Tel Mond)

WOFPP's lawyer, Taghreed Jahashan, visited the nine women political prisoners after Shalit exchange. They expressed their disappointment at not being included among the released prisoners and asked not to forget them and to continue to demand the release of all the women political prisoners.

Released detainees

On 20 October 2011, "Huriyat" (Freedom - an association for the prisoners and the detainees), organized demonstration in front of Hasharon prison for the release of the Palestinian women political prisoner, who were not released in the exchange. The police violently dispersed the demonstration and detained 16 protesters among them 6 women: Sharifa Mahameed, Maysan Subah, Fidaa Zaydan, Iris Bar, Faten Qasem and Taghreed Qasem. On 26 October Iris, Faten and Taghreed were released and on 30 October Sharifa, Maysan and Fidaa were released. In the way from prison to court the guards shackled them very tightly and even a week after the release there were shackles' marks on their legs.
