Hasharon Prison (Tel Mond)
Books and Crafts
WOFPP'S lawyer, Taghreed Jahashan,
sent
a letter to the prison authorities
demanding to allow books and handicrafts to be used by the women political prisoners. Since about three years, prison authorities have prevented the prisoners from receiving books and materials for craft.
Lina Jarbuni
from Arabeh Bathouf, in the Galilee, was arrested on 15 April 2002. She took part in the political prisoners' hunger strike, and the prison authorities punished her: On 22 April 2012, they transferred her to an isolation cell in the criminal prisoners' wing in Neve Tirza Prison, prohibition of family visits and buying in the canteen for one month and a fine of 250 NIS. After about a week, on 30 April, she was transferred back to Hasharon Prison.
In Hasharon Prison she suffered from terrible pain, and only after three days, and after the other women political prisoners threatened to go on a hunger strike, the prison authorities transferred her to a hospital.
In the hospital, she suffered from harsh and humiliating treatment: she was tied to the bed by one hand on one side and by one foot on the other one (for example: left hand was tied and right leg was tied), so that she could not move in bed. In her room, men guards and women guards remained 24 hours a day. She requested to install a curtain, so that only the women guards would be able to see her, but the prison authorities refused. Lina had twice been hospitalized: for the first time on 6 May 2012 for a day, and then from 8 May until 11 May 2012.
